Personal Statement
The harmony found in classical architecture speaks to our desire for calm. The repose of a building enhanced by the beauty of its proportions create belonging. My designs need to not only fulfill their basic program, but go beyond into enhancing the lives of those that use them.

Biography
My family has spent several weeks each summer at the Chautauqua Institute since before my father was born. It is a lovely place that demonstrates all I wanted to be as an adult: educated, thoughtful, compassionate, artistic, cultured, and accepting of others. This positivity is inexorably entwined with the built environment of the grounds. I found my love of proportion and beauty because of these experiences.
Architecture is my second career. It combines the knowledge I received with my engineering degree and the creativity my soul longed to express. I am drawn to libraries, schools, town halls, and other public works as examples of beautiful architecture. Our fellow humans deserve to be surrounded by buildings that enhance their daily lives; which for me means harmony and proportion that creates calm. I wish to leave a legacy of these projects for future generations.
